Toronto Argonauts – Preview – CFL Season

After the 2009 season, the Toronto Argonauts did not have much to be excited. On the year, the Argonauts sported an awful 3-15 record. The record looks awful, but with closer examination, it gets worse. Scoring just 328 points in the entire 18 game seasons, the Argonauts, by far, had the worst offense in the CFL. Throughout the course of the season, they were collectively outscored by their opponents by 174 points.
The Argonauts needed to make a lot of changes to turn things around, after such a poor season. In the offseason, the Argonauts were fortunate to obtain a large amount of draft picks. This influx of young players through the draft could be just what they needed to turn things around in 2010.
The Argonauts picked offensive tackle Joe Eppele with the 2nd pick, in the first round. The Argonauts gave some playing time to three different quarterbacks for short stretches in the last season. Those quarterbacks combined to throw for 14 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. The new quarterbacks will need a solid offensive line if they hope to pick apart their opponents with more efficiency than the Argonauts did last season, though these quarterbacks are not in the picture anymore. This pick was a great pick for the Argonauts. It is sometimes best, just to pick the best player available on the board, with so many holes.
In the 1st round by picking Cory Greenwood, the Argonauts followed suit with their 3rd pick. Greenwood can act as an anchor for their struggling defense and is a linebacker. They have a playmaker to rely on in the middle of the field, by adding Cory Greenwood.
Argonauts were able to revamp their offensive line and linebacker core, through the draft. As their quarterbacks will all be new to the team as well, the offensive also has other big changes. All of their quarterbacks from 2009 were released in the off-season. A total of 4 new quarterbacks were added to the team.
