The Toronto Argonauts may not have won decisively to make earn their chance to play for the Grey Cup but they did win, 16-13 over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Montreal Alouettes, led by Anthony Calvillo, earned a bye the first week of the CFL Playoffs and will now deal with the Toronto Argonauts for the right to play in the Grey Cup.

The best record in the CFL was held by the Calgary Stampeders with 13 wins followed by the Montreal Alouettes with 12 wins. Montreal and Toronto met for the last two game of the regular season and split them. Montreal winning the first of the two games 37-30 and then losing the last game of the season 30-4.

Now with the Grey Cup on the line Anthony Calvillo and his high powered offense will be gunning for Toronto in this game. The Toronto versus Montreal series has been one of the closest and bitterest in the CFL this season with the Montreal Alouettes holding a 3-2 edge over the Argonauts.

Toronto has a slim chance to earn their way into the Grey Cup. Cleo Lemon, the much maligned quarterback of the Argo’s, has shown glimpses of greatness in big games and if he can put together a big game this weekend, Toronto has a punchers chance.

Cory Byrd is another factor that can contribute to a Toronto Argonauts trip to the Grey Cup this season. Byrd is a solid up and down running back that can be a game changer. If Lemon is ineffective at the quarterback position, look for Byrd to get more carries to grind out a win.

The BC Lions will travel to play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the last game before the CFL Playoffs gets underway. The BC Lions can make the playoffs with a win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who are preparing for the playoffs and in need of a win to take the third best record in the playoffs.

The Tiger-Cats enter this game with a record of 9-8 and sole possession of second place in the East division. The BC Lions enter this game with a record of 7-10 and the possibility of ending their season with the second worst record in the CFL.

The Tiger-Cats are led by the quarterback Kevin Glenn who has 4,813 yards passing to go with his 30 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Glenn has been the one steady leader on the Tiger-Cats that has led his team into the CFL Playoffs. Glenn is also a partial reason why Hamilton is entering this year’s playoffs as a huge underdog.

The BC Lions have fallen on hard times this season and they will try to end their season on a high note even though they will still finish with a losing record. The BC Lions have won two of their last three games and have an outside chance to make the CFL Playoffs with a win and a Saskatchewan Rough Riders win over the Edmonton Eskimos. Travis Lulay continued his improved play and he could be the factor that puts the BC Lions over the top and potentially in the CFL Playoffs.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will travel to Edmonton to take on the Edmonton Eskimos Sunday October 3rd. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have been hot and cold in the 2010 CFL season as their 6-6 record can attest. In football betting odds, Tiger-Cats have an inconsistent too. The Tiger-Cats have a 3-3 record on the road. This game against the CFL West Division cellar dweller, Edmonton, may be just enough to give the Tiger-Cats a winning road record.

The battle of the quarterbacks in this game is very one sided. The home team Eskimos quarterback, Ricky Ray has been embattled all season long and his seven touchdowns versus his 13 interceptions is not a statistic that will help Ray’s cause. Ray has thrown for a total of 2600 yards and rushed for 127 yards.

Kevin Glenn, the quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, has thrown for 3507 yards to go with his 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Glenn has shown he is capable of taking over a game but he needs to finish games to be considered an elite quarterback. Glenn is in a must win situation with the Tiger-Cats. A win will give the team a chance for sole possession of second place in the CFL East. The first place team is the Montreal Alouettes who have already clinched their playoff berth.

DeAndra’ Cobb, the lead running back for the Tiger-Cats, has allowed Glenn to rack up his numbers by running effectively enough to set up the play action pass. Cobb has 830 yards heading into this game and could be a major factor if Hamilton is to beat the Edmonton Eskimos.

The Hamilton Tiger Cats will take on the Toronto Argonauts in Toronto, Friday August 20th. Both teams were underdogs on the Las Vegas betting line last week and both won their games straight up. Hamilton shocked the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on their home field, beating them 39-28 and Toronto won as a home underdog over a hot Montreal Alouettes team, 37-22. Now they both face off for the first CFL game of Week 8.

The Hamilton Tiger Cats enter the game with a hot quarterback in Kevin Glenn and a hot slot receiver in Arland Bruce. Bruce scored the game winner last weekend against Winnipeg. The Hamilton Tiger Cats have struggled in the 2010 CFL season and are still below .500 with a record of 3-4. As per the latest football reviews, this game against Toronto will make or break the season for Hamilton. It could get them off to a fresh start for the second half of the season.

The Toronto Argonauts are on the other end of the spectrum. Coming off a win against East Division rival, Montreal, the Toronto Argonauts are now 5-2 and tied with Montreal for a share of the East Division lead. Toronto cannot afford to let one slip against a hungry Hamilton Tiger Cats team.

Toronto’s Cleo Lemon may not be the popular choice at quarterback but he is Head Coach Jim Barker’s choice, so he isn’t going anywhere. Running back Cory Boyd and Lemon have worked well together to this point of the CFL season and they should be more than capable of disposing of the Hamilton Tiger Cats.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will try to win their second CFL game in a row when the Toronto Argonauts come to town Friday, July 9. Winnipeg quarterback Buck Pierce will try to repeat his performance of last week in which he threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns, also running for an additional 89 yards.

Toronto comes into this game after a shellacking at the hands of the Calgary Stampeders and although Cleo Lemon did not look incredible in his debut for Toronto but he did throw for almost 200 yards against a tough Calgary defense and looked like he managed the game better than expected.

The issue for Winnipeg will be if they can put the same pressure on the Toronto defense that they exerted over a less skilled Hamilton Tiger-Cats team. Toronto was keeping pace with Calgary for a while until Calgary kicked it into gear last week. Winnipeg’s defense also has the advantage of being on their home field which will help with crowd noise.

Toronto’s defense will have to put pressure on Winnipeg quarterback Buck Pierce and make him force his throws. Pierce has been injured several times and if Toronto can provide pressure in the backfield Pierce will get happy feet in the pocket.

If Toronto is to win they could score some points on special teams since Winnipeg appeared to struggle on kickoff coverage, allowing a 93 yard touchdown and allowed a missed field goal to be returned for 118 yards.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ 2009 season ended in heartbreak as they were knocked out of the CFL’s East semifinals by the B.C. Lions in a 34-27 overtime victory. The loss in the team’s first playoff game in five seasons was a disappointing end for the fans, to what had been an exciting first year under head coach Marcel Bellefeuille.

One of the stated priorities in the off-season was to bolster the team’s secondary. In March, the Tiger-Cats acquired defensive back Jerome Dennis in exchange for linebacker Dennis Haley. They also brought in free agent defensive backs Will Poole and Jason Shivers – both players with NFL experience.

Kevin Glenn had a solid season in leading Hamilton to the playoffs last season, and the team made moves in the off-season to provide him with more weapons. This included shipping defensive back Chris Thompson to Edmonton in exchange for wide receiver Maurice Mann, an explosive player who 917 yards receiving and 10 TDs last season. The Tiger-Cats also swapped wide receivers with Saskatchewan, sending Prechae Rodriguez packing for Adam Nicolson and the rights to a kick return/wide receiver rumored to be former Miami Dolphins player Chris Williams.

Other off-season moves made by Hamilton included releasing veteran offensive lineman Dan Goodspeed and signing former All-Star offensive lineman Jason Jimenez, most recently with the B.C. Lions. The team also released starting kicker Nick Setta, whose shaky season almost cost the Tiger-Cats a playoff spot. He will be replaced by Sandro DeAngelis, who was named Most Valuable Canadian while helping Calgary win the Grey Cup in 2008.
